The Governing Council is the highest body between general meetings and is comprised of experts who guarantee a professional approach to the issue of therapeutic cannabis.

Director of KOPAC: KOPAC is a statutory body and fills the decision of the Board to the business objectives. The Director of the Board shall elect from among candidates recommended by the Executive Committee.

Dr. Lumír Ondřej Hanuš

Lumír Ondřej Hanuš obtained his M.S. in analytical chemistry (1972), Ph.D. in analytical chemistry (1974) and associate professorship in organic chemistry (1994) from Palacky University, Olomouc (Czech Republic) and his D.Sc. in pharmaceutical chemistry (1995) from Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic).

At the present time, he is a Research Fellow at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel; he has been there since 1990 (as a researcher, professor, and research fellow) at the School of Pharmacy. Between the years 1971 and 1990 he did research and taught at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Palacky University, Olomouc. He spent the period 1978-1979 as a research associate at the School of Pharmacy, University of Mississippi, USA. In the years 1997 and 1998 he was a visiting associate (NIDDK, NIH, Bethesda, USA) and in 2001-2002 a research fellow at NIAAA (NIH, Bethesda, USA).

He was awarded Honorary Doctoral degrees – Chemiae Doctor honoris causa (2007) and Medicinae Doctor honoris causa (2011), the Hanuš medal (2005), Addictology Award (2012), and Olomouc City Award (2013). His major research interests are the chemistry of natural products (isolation and identification of new compounds from plants and animals) and the testing of compounds for biological activity. Full CV on Wikipedia – the Free Encyclopedia.

Prof. Richard Rokyta

He was created a  Chevalier Des Palmes Academiques by the French Prime Minister. Other awards of Prof. Rokyta include, inter alia: the Gold Medal of the City of Grenoble, the Gold Medal of Charles University, the Purkyne Gold Medal of the Czech Medical Society, and the Medal of the City of Pilsen. He was honoured for his scientific work and its popularisation with Laufberger Medal and other prestigious awards, including two Janssen-Cilag Prizes for the best paper in the popularisation of science, the Prize of the Rector of Charles University for the best scientific paper (his monograph on “Pain”, 2006), the Prize of the Presidium of the Czech Medical Society for the best national scientific paper (2012), etc. He has authored several textbooks of physiology and pathological physiology, a textbook of medical French and other scientific books. He is the translator of numerous medical books from English, French and German, and he has translated one French work of fiction. In his academic career, he was vice-dean of the Third Faculty of Medicine Charles University (1990-97), a member of the Academic Senate of the Third Medical Faculty, a member of the Academic Senate of Charles University and the Chair of its Economic Board.

He has been a member of the Research Board of Charles University, a member of the Scientific Board of the Third Medical Faculty (Charles University) and a member of the Scientific Board of the Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen (Charles University), a member of the Scientific Board of the Institute of Physiology of the Czech Academy of Science,  a member of the Scientific Board of the Institute of Experimental Medicine of the Czech Academy of Science, etc. He works in numerous national and international societies and on the Editorial Boards of national and international scientific journals (five of them with an impact factor). He has organised many scientific conferences – both national and international.

Tomas Zabransky, M.D., Ph.D. graduated from the Medical Faculty of Palacky University in Olomouc. At the same faculty in 2001, he earned a Ph.D. in epidemiology, hygiene and preventive medicine. Dr. Zabransky currently leads the Research and Development Center Adiktologie Psychiatric Clinic, 1st Medical Faculty of Charles University in Prague and General University Hospital in Prague and is an external associate of the National Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction; he also works as a drug epidemiologist for the United Nations and in projects funded by the European Commission. His main research interest is focused on drug-related deaths and blood diseases among drug users, interventions to reduce the damage through qualitative research in populations of non-institutionalized drug users, and the evaluation of drug policy. He is a member of the Committee on Petitions, the Petition for medical cannabis in the Czech Republic and other members of the expert group that prepared the current legislation governing the distribution of medicinal cannabis in the Czech Republic (adopted in February 2013). He is the author of more than sixty peer-reviewed publications, a member of the editorial boards of two international (Journal of Drug Issues, Harm Reduction Journal) and one domestic (Adiktologie) journal, several national professional societies, the International think-tank for the analysis of drug policy (Great Britain) and UN Reference Group on HIV / AIDS and drug use. He also publishes in newspapers and magazines.

Pavel Kubu, M. D. is an expert in the fields of medical informatics and adiktologie. In 2001 he graduated General Medicine and Prevention at Charles University, 3rd Faculty of Medicine and subsequently post-graduate work at the Institute of Medical Informatics, UK, 2.LF methods of assessing the quality of public health information sources. Works for Intel, where the position of Business Development Manager leads projects Intel World Ahead Program for Health Development in Central and Eastern Europe, and education in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. He is a member of the Czech Society for Medical Informatics and Scientific Information Czech Medical Association of Jan Evangelista and a board member of the Czech National Forum for eHealth. Both organizations are dedicated mainly postgraduate training of health professionals in science and promote research and development of new preventive and therapeutic methods using eHealth tools of digital healthcare. Since 2001, the chairman of the civic association Drogmem. In the non-profit sector worked until 2005 for os Sananim to the position of technical director for information and was responsible for the operation of preventive and online consulting services association. It is a member of the Editorial board of the journal Adiktologie a member of the editorial board of the International Centre for Alcohol Policies Periodic Review of Drinking and Culture. It operates in the Czech expert group of the Joint Action on New Synthetic Drugs of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction and the workgroup prevention of risk behavior in nightlife of the Government Council for Drug Policy Coordination. He is the Chairman of the Ethics Committee of the National Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction.

Iva Pousková, M. D. graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen, general medicine and now works as a psychiatrist in private ambulance company’s headquarters. Trying to treat “whole” and is used to draw various alternative treatments so as to allow not only to eliminate the symptoms, but the full and actual healing. She found that cannabis can not damage the body cureing many diseases, even those in which doctors are powerless. She decided to go along a little-trodden path of treating the human body with combination therapy – treatment with cannabis and psyche – self-knowledge or “working on themselves”. Thus began the hypnosis, psychotherapy training, homeopathy, kinesiology, training and seminars on energy (Philippines, Reiki), constellations, the essence ….. and created a “compilation” methods, which proved best. Motto: The goal being to find a path to your heart, to love, because love is the right one, and give us a real doctor. A hemp journey to the heart opens.

Hana Vágnerová is a founding member of KOPAC as a patient with multiple sclerosis (MS). She is a member of two organizations that bring together people with MS – ​​Union Roska and SMS – Association of Young sklerotik. In the non-profit sector has always worked as a volunteer. She was manager of the Union for Foreign relations for Roska and a member of the Executive Committee SMS. Interested in particular the rights of patients to available treatment options and improving the quality of life with a chronic illness.

Hana Gabrielová graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture, University of South Bohemia in 1999 with thesis on the topic: Options cultivation and use of hemp in the Czech Republic. Since her studies she continue on work with hemp. In 2005 she received the accreditation programs of the Ministry of Agriculture for agroadviser specializing in organic farming and cultivation of hemp. Since 2000 she is an active member of NGO Konopa, which educates the public and professionals in the potential of using hemp. In 2011-13 she was a member of the Steering Committee of international organization ENCOD and is a member of the Petitions Committee on Petitions for medical cannabis in the country. Since January 2011, she is working as a managing director of Hempoint Ltd. focusing on growing organic hemp mainly for flowers production, wholesale and retail activities in the field of hemp products. In 2013 was the cofounder of KOPAC – the czech patient association for cannabis treatment.
